Glasgow City Council leader, Steven Purcell, yesterday , 'topped out' Glasgow's only Grade A office block to complete in 2008, the landmark Cuprum development, Cadogan Square.

The topping out ceremony marks a construction milestone in the latest phase of the regeneration of the former Anderston Centre in Argyle Street, renamed Cadogan Square, and is an ongoing, strategic partnership between Glasgow City Council and Taylor Wimpey.

The Cuprum is part of phase five of this major regeneration project together with a residential tower of 122 one and two bedroom apartments. The office block, a key development in Glasgow's International Financial Services District (IFSD), has been funded by Kenmore Property Group.

Councillor Steven Purcell, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "Glasgow is enjoying unprecedented economic success and has been one of the fastest growing cities in the UK in its rate of job creation.

"The council has been committed to developing Glasgow's business district and promoting the city as a key location for companies to invest.

"Therefore, we are delighted to support the redevelopment of Cadogan Square. This fantastic building is a clear display of how Glasgow is booming and open for business."

The building comprises 98,400 sq ft (9,141 sq m), on ground with six upper floors, providing flexible open floorplates up to 16,000 sq ft (1,486 sq m).
Cuprum is the first and only new commercial city centre building to be completed in Glasgow this year.

DTZ and Jones Lang La Salle are joint leasing agents.

In place of an official plaque, Taylor Wimpey will unveil a 'Cuprum' cake, which will be donated to Royal Hospital for Sick Children (Yorkhill).
